"Chi Natural Breathing Exercise Provides Asthma Relief in Many..."
Research has shown that asthma sufferers have a 15 to 20% lower active lung capacity than
the average person. Chi Master Lu has created breathing exercises that increase lung capacity without risk of triggering an asthma
attack.
.........The Five Elements breathing Method is
a promising approach for children with asthma, exercise-induced asthma, and others suffering from respiratory ailments to increase their lung
capacity. "I highly recommend your breathing exercises for people with respiratory ailments, "says Master Lu’s student, Gale R., NYC Hospital’s
Chief Nurse of the Respiratory Department.
When a person breathes in, the air travels into the lungs through the bronchial tubes. These
tubes branch out to divide into millions of smaller tubes, and finally end in microscopic air sacs called alveoli.
The human body has more than 300 million alveoli, where the oxygen is transferred to the heart
and pumped throughout the body to sustain function of vital organs. A normal person uses only one-sixth of his lung capacity, which means the air
breathed in only reaches a fraction of these alveoli.
People with respiratory problems and asthma sufferers will use below 85 percent of this amount.
During an asthma attack, less than 50% is used.
These measurements come from a lung function test called a spirometry. A high spirometry score
generally indicates better airflow throughout the lungs; those with a noticeably low score are considered to have respiratory problems.
With practice of Master Lu’s Five Elements Breathing Method, Master Lu's students -- even for
those who originally suffered from asthma -- achieved scores significantly above a normal person’s spirometry score. These students say they were
freed of respiratory problems they suffered from and easily noticed a deeper breath than before.
"I have found that the Five Element Breathing exercises are profound and intense and that not
only do I have a sense of exhilaration and rejuvenation, but a heightened sense of energy and mental clarity as well, especially when I wake up
in the morning, says Enoch D. of NYC Hospital.
The highlight of this exercise for asthma sufferers is that it will not induce asthmatic
attacks. During a regular sports activity, however, the heart rate will increase, requiring more oxygen to be transferred to the blood.
Asthmatic individuals simply cannot exchange enough air to supply the increased blood
circulation, therefore risking an asthma attack. Master Lu’s breathing method works opposite of an intensive exercise.
First of all, the slow movements will not cause an excessive demand of oxygen from your lungs.
Second, the movements strategically expand the physical space around the lungs, which lowers the diaphragm and other ways that are invisible from
outside the body.
This way the air will reach more of the alveoli, creating more blood oxygen so there is no risk
of causing oxygen shortage. Master Lu says, If the heart does begin to pump slightly faster, it is because the body realized the abundance of
oxygen that is available to be transported to other parts of the body.
MasterLu.com was established to create awareness of Master Lu’s holistic approach to better health.
